Portrait of the photographer behind Sunday Portrait

About

Behind the camera

Philosophy

A good portrait doesn't have to be perfect. It has to feel right.

I believe in simplicity: soft light, calm colours and room for the child to be themselves.

Without busy backgrounds, props or imposed poses, what remains is what truly matters: a face, a look, a personality. That is what makes a portrait timeless – and why you will still enjoy looking at it twenty years from now.

Why children

Children don't pretend

They show straight away how they feel. That makes them the most honest people to photograph.

Serious and focused one moment, laughing their heads off about nothing the next. Photographing children takes patience and sometimes a little playfulness, but it creates images you won't get anywhere else: unselfconscious, pure and full of character.

Precisely because children change so quickly, every portrait feels like holding on to a small piece of time.

Why Sunday

Sunday feels different from the rest of the week

No alarm clock, no school run, no rushed morning. On Sundays there is room.

By photographing only on Sundays, I can give every session the time and attention it deserves. There is no next appointment waiting and nobody needs to watch the clock. You notice that calm – and so does your child.

Sunday Portrait: a portrait with the calm of a Sunday.
